Electricity consumption is very major part of selection of Ac (Split or Windows).

Here i am discuss Five point where major role play to save electricity.

1. Room Environment

• Size of the room - This determines the amount of air in the room that needs to be cooled. larger room size required AC size .
• Amount of stuff kept in the room - Please note every item kept in the room will get cooled from the air conditioner, so lesser the stuff, lesser the electricity air conditioner will consume.
• Number of electrical appliances in the room - Most electrical appliances emit heat, especially lights (Incandescent light bulbs can increase cooling load).
• Windows in the room - More the windows, more is the heat coming from outside. Well-insulated windows reduce cooling load.
• Walls facing the sun -room structure also important for ac setup if Walls facing the sun side means It can increase the cooling load.

2. AC size (Tonnage)

The size of AC is measures in Tons.
Tonnage is a  measure used to identify the cooling capacity of an AC as per size and demand of the room. 1 Ton is equal to 12,000 Btu.
Depending on your room size, choose the right size of AC. Here is a small picture to help you with this.

3. EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) 

EER  decide your ac efficiency. and it is very important factor to cooling capacity of ac. Air conditioner has a cooling capacity, which is represented in BTU/hr.

EER = Amount of heat removed per hour/ power consumed.

Thus, EER = BTU/hr/watt

Thus, higher the amount of heat removed per hour per unit of power consumed, higher is the efficiency of air conditioner. Also, higher the EER, better is the air conditioner.Usually, EER of an air conditioner is measured under a specific condition (35 degree C, outdoor temperature; 27 degree C indoor temperature )

before buying AC must check  Bureau of Energy Efficiency.  the  Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) mandates every air conditioner to have this label.

4. Star Rating (More Star more electricity saving)

BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) has formulated a star rating table . BEE  rating given in terms of star rating. Energy Efficiency Rating denotes the efficiency of an air conditioner. It is rated in stars, from 1 to 5 rating. The better ratings means more electricity savings.

5. Inverter technology Ac

Inverter Technology new for Air Conditioner. Inverter Ac reduce your electricity bills, but your Purchase bill for AC will double. It may benefit you if you are using for commercial purpose like shops etc . In inverter Ac Compressor is always on.
